AGIA MARIE
As a Greek Mexican American, I'm surrounded by images of both Byzantine icons and the Virgen of Guadalupe. Byzantine icons serve as protection, and allow people to have a direct spiritual communication with the heavenly depicted. The Virgen represents protection, resilience, femininity, and Mexico. Combining these two concepts, I created a self portrait of my two sides.
